Okay, I'll admit it: That's a dumb name. Still, I think we should set a date in the near future--like a Saturday three or four weeks from now--where we show up at the Rec and submit ourselves to the 5K test. Is there a reason to do such a thing? As Churchill has said: "In my holiday I thought it was a chance to study the reign of King Ethelred the Unready." In other words, is there a reason not to?

Well, the quote is a little esoteric.

I agree. What does King Ethelred possible have to do with rowing 5K?

Yay for doing it on a Saturday! Not that I want to do a 5k test, but I can guarantee I'm NOT doing one alone! Meanwhile, Mag has clearly gone off the deep end, Churchill knows nothing about erging, and I can think of many reasons not to.

What does that bastard Ethelred have to do with a 5K?
Helloo! the St. Brices Day Massacre of the Danes by Ethelred on 13 November. All Danes remember the perfidious English by rowing themselves to exhaustion on that day.

Happy St. Brice's Day
I have had the best time. This morning I rowed a 5 K in 18:45 which is really really hard. Then our rowing team started drinking absinthe and now I am really really drunk. There are green fairies everywhere! Then we found an English tourist and we really really pummelled him until he spit blood. I love St. Brice's Day! I hope that you are having fun also.
