Yesterday I just did not want to climb on the erg and dutifully log my meters. So I turned to my favorite source of inspiration, The Boat Race, and more specifically Rebecca Dowbiggin in the 2007 race (on VHS). Few other sporting events have the excitement and color, and none have the tradition. We should show the race at the organizational meeting, although it is best viewed with a pint in hand.

The 2007 Boat Race, ahhh.... what Newcastle is made for. It should be shown at the mtg!

OK, I'm downloading the high resolution video of Boat Race '07 from the tbr.org site (26Mb -- I'm thinking this can't be the whole race). Perhaps we can run it/loop it on my laptop as an alternative to a VCR-TV set-up...

Rebecca would look much better in hi-def.

...as would her well-built, breathtakingly powerful crew.

Now that you mention it, I guess there were some other people in the boat.

There were? She didn't do it all herself with a diamond "S" logo on the front of her shirt? Huh.
Re: "Rebecca would look much better in hi-def." I assume it's still while holding a pint, yeah?
I'm really bummed I can't get out of a dinner engagement tomorrow... I want to get Katie Bro out on the water and she's excited about it.

My dearest coxswain, Rebecca, told me about you rogue Yanks. I would like to share a piece of British rowing with you blokes on the wrong side of the pond. The British Indoor Rowing Championships, today: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehVhjlihtYU

Burton, you are sounding in the pink. All of us would trade the port nut of Hartwig Kisker to row in the British Championships.

Don't let my surname fool you. In life, I harbored a secret affinity for those wacky Brits, and, let me tell you, an affinity for wacky Brits does not simply float away with one's last breath! Why, if your lovely crew decides to take me apart and cross the pond... don't count me out. I'll be right behind you! Rebecca Dowbiggin, er, uh, Newcastle, here I come!
