Jeff Goelz is the head of Aquatics and Sports Clubs at the Rec Center. For our mutal benefit Jeff has asked that we demonstrate the ergs at the Rec Center on Sunday at this time. This is in conjunction with Sports Day, or something like that, that the Rec Center is promoting. For us, it will be an excellent recruiting opportunity.
I am thinking that we could demonstrate/promote a 1K race, showing how the the machine works. I will bring in a sweep oar that should generate questions like "what the hell is that for." With some luck we should be able to get some interested students.
I will put together a brochure about the SIU Rowing Club that broadly overstates our goals and accomplishments.
We need some people there so that it doesn't look like just a pathetic old man trying to get people to row.
Please let me know if you can be there. If you don't have a pass, tell the attendants that Jeff Goelz asked you to be there and they can call him if they don't like it.
Any other ideas will be appreciated.

I will not be able to make it on Sunday, but it sounds like a good start to the fall semester. We definitely need to generate some interest in the club. Lost members and all. If you do get that brochure together I would like to start posting it around campus.

Although I'm another pathetic old man, I would be happy to attend on Sunday and bring Clare if I can. :-) [Hey, Dawn, this is a way for you to get into the Rec and erg without buying a day pass!]
