I've set new personal distance records for a 1-hour row and a 6-by-(6'+2') interval row on the ergs this week. Stop me, please! Let's get out on the water, eh? Bry's back from vacation and the weather looks like it'll be cooler in the next couple of days...

Hey Thom, Wow, it's tough to stay on the ergs in the summer, but congrats on a PB in the hour. The erg is still the best conditioning device out, but it's summer and we should try to get on the water.
If three people can decide on a day and time, I'll be there (August 12th absolutely excluded). I will also bring a cox and most likely a spare cox.
Does anyone have a SIU decal that we can affix to the boat?.
I just got back from Holiday World-a lot of fun, but stay off the frickin roller coasters when you're 54) and got out on Little Grassy this afternoon. The water is warm and clear and as wonderful as I have seen it.
Don't be afraid to recruit new members! They won't be that far behind any of us.

I should probably put this in a new thread in Theory and Practice, but what the hell. For what it's worth Thom, I think you need to worry about burn-out on the erg. The long hard sessions can get to you, mentally and physically. Oddly enough, one nice way to get out of the long hard rut, is to go the short brutal route. Three times a week tell yourself that you don't give a damn about how meters you record and that you are going to do a short hard possibly HGH building session of 15-20' including warmup and cooldown. Start with 2' of warmup, then move to 1' @ 2:20 plus 1' rest (easy pulling), then 1' @1:55 plus 1' rest, and then 6X30 or 45"@1:40 plus 90" rest between the 1:40's. Cool down for 5' and have a nice bike ride around campus. Also, along the lines of for what it's worth, take a look at www.marksdailyapple.com for some heretical views of training. Of course what we really need to do is to get the Kisker back on the water. Alan

I wouldn't have to worry about burn-out on the erg if we were out on the water! I'm available every day this week. Oops; tomorrow is Alan's "absolutely not" day. How about Wednesday, folks? Mag? Dawn?

Wednesday would be great. I can be there if 3+ other people can! Sadly, my Concept2 meterage remains frozen at its May 30 level. No erg burnout here :-).

I can do Thursday if early afternoon (1-3PM) is agreeable. Sorry, about the restrictions, but my sister is down from MN and we're moving my mother into the Veteran's Home at Anna.
