Folks, here is the time-table I'm thinking we should use for today's operations.
4:45 p.m. sharp: Assemble at the Little Grassy Marina lower parking area. Admiral? Can you write out directions?
4:46 p.m. Drive one vehicle (we'll use my pickup, okay?) to the TON "boathouse."
5:00 p.m. Carry boat to water and launch (we'll try to carry everything we own, life preservers and cushions and such, with us, and we'll place the mounting brackets in my pickup truck's bed).
5:15 p.m. Have a nice, short, positive row. Perhaps head south first, then turn around and paddle all the way back to the Marina.
5:50 p.m. Arrive at Marina. Disembark. Stow boat.
6:05 p.m. Thom drives Mag and Annie back to TON, and Alan and Dawn make their way merrily to their respective homes.

Sounds like a plan. I'll be sure and make the sun rise before 4:45 p.m.

Directions to Little Grassy Marina and Campground. Take Giant City Blacktop south and turn left at Grassy Rd ( one mile before the TON turnoff). Stay on Grassy Rd for one half mile and turn right at the sign. Follow the campground road to the marina (about another half mile).

The water might be a little choppy this afternoon. I think that we would best be served if Mag rowed stroke. The boat seemed steadier with him there.

But the Admiral adjusted the riggings to match the 3-seat, behind the stroke. Even before those adjustments, though, Capt. Mag at stroke was perhaps steadier, so we can go with that arrangement and hope for even more stability!
1. Pause at body-over position... 2. Imagine eggs under the balls of the feet... 3. Knees & legs together to prevent over-reaching... 4. Hands in karate chop position on the oar at release.

But remember, Thom, don't concentrate on those four things to the extent that you forget what your other boatmates are doing. We are more important! Also, just me, but #3 sounds like it applies to sculling, not to sweep rowing. No?
Captain Mahab.

Hmm. Winds SSW 20-30. I will confess that I have some trepidation with Annie at cox and with us in the boat! Thoughts?

Capt. Mahab— Not to worry about me forgetting about my boat mates — I was just showing the Admiral that I hadn't forgotten the homework assignment!
Except for Bow and Stroke, seats are numbered in sweep boats, right? #2 is the seat in front of the bow and #3 is the seat in front of the Stroke for quads (so #7 is the seat in front of the Stroke for eights).
Have we been out in winds that strong yet? If not, perhaps we should postpone and hope that the air and water will be calmer tomorrow...

Thursday? What about Wednesday?
Thom: Seat numbering begins with the stroke (seat 1) and proceeds toward bow (seat 4 in our case).

And by number three I meant this: 3. Knees & legs together to prevent over-reaching...

I can do Wednesday but can not do Thursday this week. So the numbering scheme is different for fours and eights? I was taking the convention from The Boat Race web site; the guy two seats from Rebecca is in the "7 seat." www.theboatrace.org/
