Maybe I'll see y'all there in Feb! Is it bad if I begin training after I get back from Christmas break?

As pointed out in the original post, registration for the event is through www.regattacentral.com . Click on "Regattas" and a list of upcoming events pop up. St. Louis is at the top and click on it and you can get information on the event and register for it. The deadline for registration is Jan 31. You can also see who is already registered for the regatta. Not suprisingly, the early registrants are Mens-Masters, who apparently live for this shit. Pick your category carefully. If you are a novice and a masters, consider rowing the novice category if you stand a better chance of medalling. We might as well bring some hardware home

Anybody care to reflect on the races?
Except for a little over 7 minutes late in the morning, I had a great time. Thank you for your support during my race. I don't think that I could have gone harder and that was the result of encouragement I received, especially in the last ghastly quarter. I was totally drained and really just too tired to puke. This effort really is not notable in that everybody rowed as hard or harder and posted great results. As a group and individuals we can be proud of our band of rowers.
This isn't so much a culmination of work, as a beginning. The benefits of our training are showing. These times weren't possible in December! There is still time this winter (and I didn't think I would be saying this) to work on our 2K times and have an impromptu time trial in March. I'm afraid that I was trying to think of ways of knocking a few seconds in a few weeks.

Fantastic races, everyone! We didn't just show up to participate; we competed! And Don won! I believe Alan is making a great point. We're just getting started. If we keep working and if we maintain our positive attitude, our 2K times will most definitely drop. Like Jim was saying before we left Wash U: "I'm not down to seven minutes yet, but I'll get there." You know what? I believe he will get there. For my part yesterday, though, I think I could use more than a ten-stroke warmup before starting a 2K. But I was having so much fun cheering on our crew I just couldn't find time to warm up!

Same here. And for those watching us cheer each other on, it was probably hard to believe we weren't an actual team. Great support from everyone, even though all of us did not PR. It made me excited to think that this is just the beginning...we have a whole season ahead of us and I can't wait to see where everyone will be by the end of it all. Good job !!!

I was disappointed to see "Unaffiliated" by all of our names because when we were there I felt like we were a team!
Even if we don't have matching uniforms, or a "boat" I think that the people in STL are aware SIU is building a crew!

Congratulations, team! Way to put SIU Crew on the map! Wish I could've been there (to cheer, not to compete ! Where are the results posted?
