Ouch! I went to the Rec this evening and tried an easy 10K, and my ribs were killing me so much I could hardly finish the piece. I'm blaming this on the 5K: must have tweaked the muscles around my ribs. Am I alone with this ailment?

mag, What you probably have is an intercostal muscle strain. I don't know if giving it a name makes it feel any better, but I doubt it. I had one of those about 5 years ago and was told to lay off rowing and take Advil. I took half the advice it went away. Hurt like hell for awhile.
I saw Sam at the Rec yesterday. He said he was a little sore. As I left he was pulling a 1:30 pace, so I think he has gotten the hang of the stroke.

Sam's pulling 1:30! Scary! As to my intracoastal, that sure does bring back fond memories of Florida.... I'm taking Advil!

In honor of not using my heating pad to get out of bed this morning I thought I would row a half-marathon this evening.
Two things, other than agony, came to mind after an hour and a half (maybe it was sooner). 1. The new seats are way more comfortable than the old ones, and 2. I think I have a title for Mike's next book in the Lummox series- Lummox: A man with more time than brains

Still have about 80K to go, but I think I will have it done by weeks end.
