I waited until most of the thunderstorms had passed and went out to Little Grassy around 5:30. The water was fairly calm with a small south breeze. I used a Garmin Edge 205 and set it up for the familiar 1' on 4' off interval X 10. The electronics worked great for this; any real problem occurred as the result of trying to pull hard and maintain form. That part was so so, but at least I have a baseline for the next time.
By the way, thunderstorms are pretty localized. The weather was clear on the north end of the lake, but there was thunder and lightning 2.5 miles to the south. Thunder and lightning are great motivators.

Once again, Laura is green with envy. Good news, though. Due to leg complications, there's a relatively good chance that she won't have take care of Army obligations this summer, thus freeing her to tool around Carbondale a little longer. Perhaps she will be able to join you on the water at that time. A little over two weeks til final exams start, so getting into a boat before then is looking unlikely...
By the way, the Commodore does not condone rowing if there is visible lightening or audible thunder. If something were to happen to you, how would Mag and I figure out how to row the boat with the funky seat?
