Just got back from an Alaskan Cruise terminating in Vancouver. Forutnately the boat had two C2 erg in the spa (as they like to call it). I usually got a 10K in.
The neat rowing connections on the trip were the Juneau Rowing Club which were out in force when we made port and the Elephant and Castle Pub in Vancouver. This is a franchise so my expectations were good beer and adequate food. And they did have a lovely pale ale and stout and Guiness Lamb stew. But enough of food, for hanging from six different locations were wooden singles and double in immaculate shape. They had the names of their boat club lettered on the sides-- Furnival Boat Club London, Queens College Oxford, etc. The oars were wooden with the old leather collars and all the boats looked liked they could be taken down and rowed. For me, it was a religious experience.
Anyhow, I'm back in town if anyone would like to go rowing.
